In the Art of Embodiment we approach the body as a mystery hiding in plain site. Through mindful attention, curious and compassionate exploration we pursue deeper levels of experience, understanding and freedom.
The Art of Embodiment is the meeting and merging of our nature as physical, psychological and spiritual beings. It is an exploration of the essential natures of what we are and what of them is hidden or remote to our experience. In this exploration we meet where we have limitation and resistance through holding and habit.
The Art of Embodiment offers a coherent and powerful foundation of body consciousness training, through which a fuller potential of the body in movement is explored and developed. Through the work we will expand the dexterity, fluidity and spontaneity of the body in movement finding freedom from the body’s habitual patterns of limitation. The liberation of this unconscious holding allows the body to align with the spirit, our soul essence through which we become the embodiment in expression of the greater being and truth that we are.
We prepare the body through the two primal motions of nature, waves and spirals. The emphasis is on softening and opening, both physically and in our consciousness. The work is rooted in mindfulness, paying ever deepening attention to our experience of the present moment and developing that capacity in multiple dimensions.
We also emphasize the importance of reflection and integration of the experiences of the work. This will be facilitated individually through other creative means, writing, picture making and through sharing as a group.
